SUMMARY
Loosely clustering to solitary palm. Stem 1–5 m tall, 10–30 diam., with densely inserted persistent leaf bases. Leaves up to 2 m long; leaf sheath not ligulate; blade with 80–130 leaflets per side, in groups of 3–4 proximally, pointing in different directions, concolourous or discolourous and bluish-green abaxially, acanthophylls 14–16 per side, up to 20 cm long. Male inflorescence erect, peduncle 10–15 cm long, rachillae 25–30, 8–12 cm long, male flowers 5–8 mm long; female inflorescence erect, peduncle 1–1.5 m long, rachillae 30–40, 30–40 cm long, female flowers 3–4 mm long. Infructescence 1.4–1.6 m long, arching at maturity, rachillae with fruits only in distal 2/3–1/2. Fruits ovoid to obovoid, 0.9–1.8 x 0.5–0.9 cm, rounded in cross section.
